Glowworm is a band led by composer and multi-instrumentalist Kevin Davis, formerly of the bands Pacific UV and the Dandelion Method. Davis, a classically trained composer who studied music composition and sound design, has worked as a producer, composer, string arranger, mixing engineer, and music engraver. He started writing Glowworm’s melodic instrumental songs as a side project in the early 2000s, and recorded the first Glowworm album, The Coachlight Woods, with drummer Jesse Robert W., in Portland, Oregon and St. George, Utah in 2007. Davis’ music has been featured extensively in national media, including HBO’s Californication and on the popular public radio program This American Life.

The first Glowworm album was acclaimed in post-rock circles – Canada’s Exclaim! magazine favorably compared the band to Mogwai and Explosions in the Sky – and interest in Glowworm began to intensify even as Davis shifted his focus to the ambient sound project Beta Cicadae, writing and recording Mouna and a follow-up LP, Dirt and Sky.

In 2018, Davis, now based in Macon, Georgia, is finishing a second Glowworm album, featuring vocalist Avery Leigh Draut (Pittsburgh Symphony, University of Georgia Opera Theatre) and drummer John O’Reilly, Jr. (Jim Adkins, EL VY, Jason Mraz, fun.), mixed by Andy LeMaster (Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst, Azure Ray, Drive-By Truckers) and James Plotkin (Hammock, Pelican, Sun O)))).. A series of singles will be released starting in spring 2018, with the LP following in 2019. - Joel Heng Hartse
